FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
➜ What is Notch?
Notch is a dedicated workspace to help sports clubs manage, schedule and pay league referees, built by league administrators.
➜ How does Notch work?
Notch (currently in beta) allows you to simply register your club in less than a minute, invite your admins who can all create individual games or import bulk season games by using our user-friendly CSV template. Invite your league referees to game roles, review and accept new game requests. Before assigning a referee, you'll need to add funds to your Notch account by connecting a bank account or credit/debit card. Once the game finishes, referees can request their payout immediately while you do more of what you love doing!
➜ What does it cost?
Notch is free to get started. No hidden costs!
• Our Notch fees include a 5% transaction fee to process and handle the payments your referee assignments. For example: $50.00 game fee + $2.50 transaction fee = $52.50 debited from your Notch account. All of our fees are transparently calculated so you can see exactly what it costs.
• Adding funds into your Notch account is free when paying by bank debit (ACH), but if you wish to add funds by credit or debit cards we issue a standard processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30.
➜ Do I have to put and keep money in my Notch account?
In short, yes:
You hold an "available funds" balance in your Notch account, with no minimums, by authorizing a one-time debit each time you add funds by bank debit, credit or debit card. Available funds must be added to your Notch account before assigning a referee.
*Please note, ACH deposits usually take 1–4 working days for your money to reach us. And, you’ll usually see the debit in your bank account within 2–3 working days of making the transfer.
➜ Is it safe to keep money in my Notch account?
In short, yes:
Notch is not a bank. We simply hold your funds and keep your money protected by using Stripe, a PCI-certified auditor and certified to the most stringent level of certification and security in the payments industry through PCI Service Provider Level 1 status.
Learn more about security at Stripe here.
➜ Can I use my own system to manage payments?
In short, no:
The magic of Notch is taking the heavy-lifting out of your payments that we feel is a necessity to each referee you assign to a game.
➜ I am a club admin and referee. Can I have more than one account?
In short, yes:
If you also referee league games as a club admin, we recommend that you add a referee profile by selecting the option in the bottom left of the sidebar menu and all you'll need to add is your date of birth, residential address and years of experience.
You can toggle between two dashboards from your existing account without logging out every time you want to switch accounts.
➜ Can I download an App?
Notch is a progressive web application and not available in the App Store. Our service however, is fully responsive to all devices and you can save our site to your tablet or mobile device homescreen by following the instructions below:
• Android: Launch Chrome for Android and open https://www.joinnotch.com. Tap the menu button and tap Add to homescreen. You’ll be able to enter a name for the shortcut and then Chrome will add it to your home screen.
• iPad and iPhone: Launch the Safari browser on Apple’s iOS and navigate to https://www.joinnotch.com. Tap the Share button on the browser’s toolbar — that’s the rectangle with an arrow pointing upward. • Windows 8, 8.1, RT: First, open the modern Internet Explorer browser — that’s what you’re probably using on a tablet, anyway, as it offers the most touch-optimized experience. In short, yes:
